Thoth was considered to be one of the important deities in Ancient Egypt, often depicted with the head of an Ibis. Seshat was his feminine counterpart. His chief shrine was located at Khemennu, where he led the local pantheon, renamed Hermopolis by the Greeks (the Greeks' interpretation of Thoth was that he was the same as Hermes) and Eshmunen in Coptic. Thoth was considered the heart and tongue of Ra, the means by which Ra's will was translated into speech. He has played many important roles in Ancient Egyptian mythology, including being one of the two deities standing on either side of Ra's boat. He was also involved in magic, writing, science, arbitration, and judgement of the dead.
Thoth had overseen three epic battles between good and evil- the first between Ra and Apep, the second between Heru-Bekhutet and Set, and the third between Horus (son of Osiris) and Set. Each time, the former god represented order and the latter chaos. If one god was injured in the battle, Thoth would heal them to prevent either side from overtaking the other. Thoth was also of great aid to Isis in the Osiris myth, giving her the words to resurrect him so she could be impregnated and give birth to Horus. Thoth, being the god who spoke the words that fulfilled the wishes of Ra, was said to have spoken the words that created the heavens and Earth in Egyptian mythology.
Cold Cast is a modern method of casting sculptures using a mixture of resin and powdered polymer materials. The finished sculpture has a surface which looks very similar to traditionally cast material, but tends to be much lighter.
